Gallery Manager – Part Time
Harrison County Arts, Inc. (HCA) is seeking a part-time art gallery manager for the Harrison County Arts Gallery located at 113 East Beaver Street in Corydon, Indiana. HCA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, with a physical art gallery located, on “The Square” in historic Corydon, Indiana, Indiana’s first state capitol. Facilities include an invitational gallery, a member’s gallery, classrooms, and a gift shop to promote the artist community of Harrison County Indiana and beyond. HCA oversees the operations of the Beaver St. facility by a governing board comprised of officers and members. The Gallery Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in a manner that builds the reputation of Harrison County Arts and its Galleries.
The part-time position requires the Gallery Manager to be on site 20 hours per week, have a knowledge of fine art; Undergraduate degree or equivalent in experience, BA in Fine Arts preferred; possess business and marketing skills to manage a volunteer team and run fiscally sound operations; have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; be able to multi task and function well in a fast-paced changing environment; and experience with grant writing helpful. Must also be proficient in utilizing a personal computer to manage accounting software (Quick Books and Square), navigate websites and social media, and Microsoft Office software.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift and pull 10 to 25 pounds, related to hanging artwork on the gallery walls; the ability to use step ladders, fold and store said equipment; and the ability to stand and or sit for periods of time that this position requires.
The Gallery Manager will keep the Board of Directors updated on fiduciary and other matters necessary for the management of the organization and gallery; implement the directives and decisions of the Board of Directors via the direction of the Board President; establish positive relationships with regional educational institutions, community, and civic organizations; supervise volunteer staff; develop effective marketing strategies to promote art exhibits and events; fundraising and grant writing; manage and assist in formulation organization budgets; and other operational duties as assigned.
