I started painting when I was five years old. I have a BFA in Painting from the University of Louisville. I have experience producing work with Community Development Block grants in Louisville, experience painting for multiple theatres in Louisville and Lexington, KY, including 5 years as scenic charge for Actor’s Theatre, 2 summers with the Musical Theatre of Louisville, Louisville Ballet, Kentucky Opera and the Kentucky Children’s Theatre in Lexington. Then I was the Art Director at Weber Group Inc. where I created the department and managed the Art Production of Weber Group Inc. in Sellersburg, IN for 15 years. I left to get a Masters in Community Leadership and Communication and now paint and sculpt at my shop in Georgetown. I am currently in the Entrepreneurship program at Maker 13 space in Jeffersonville, IN. I have only recently been interested in showing.
I produce 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art using many different materials, however, I consider my paintings to be the personal expression. I paint canvases with layers of washes that I pull imagery out of, much like we do with clouds or ink spots. I paint about the people and things I know, trying to flush out the situations they find themselves in. I use color and form to bring reason to a most beautiful and outrageous world. I paint loss, recovery and mythology of the real world.
