Please join us at Harrison County Arts for the opening reception of the “Contemporary Wonderland Way,” an exhibition of works by 17 regional artists: David Becker, Cheryl Barnett, Rosemarie Bernardi, Debra Clem, Wende Cudmore, Evelyn Fried, Keith J. Hampton, Brian Harper, Ohad Holzberg, Lorraine Hughes, Brian Jones, Joy Kirchgessner, Joseph Moore, Joyce Ogden, Wendi Smith, Cathy Sawtelle- Thorpe, and Kimara Wilhite.
This invitational exhibit is named for the Southern Indiana Wonderland Way Art Club that met from 1906 until 1937. It is the first of what will become a biennial juried show of contemporary regional artists who perpetuate Southern Indiana’s rich artistic heritage that began with the Wonderland Way Art Club.
The work of local artists, Leah Porter and Rita Koerber, will be featured in “Color and Form: A Duet” in the Members’ Gallery. Koerber is a fabric artist known for incorporating Indonesian designs and fabric – batik and songket – into her traditional quilts, table runners, and other functional art. Porter is known for the exacting detail of her “plants” – sculptures made from copper wire, beads, glass, rocks, and curious pieces of wood.
All events are free and open to the public.
